The Ottoman aviation story is a little-known adventure and quite colorful. More importantly, it includes many firsts in the history of world aviation. The first bombing from an airplane in the world was carried out by Italy against the Ottomans during the Italo-Turkish War. In fact, the pilot wrote to his father in a letter: "It will be very interesting to try this on the Turks." Istanbul was one of the first cities in the world to be bombed. It was bombed repeatedly from 1916 until the end of World War I. The plane of Italian Captain Moizo, who fought against the Ottomans in Tripoli, was shot down and forced to make an emergency landing. Moizo was the first pilot to be captured in world war history. The Ottoman Empire was the first country to capture a pilot. During the bombing of Istanbul, there was such a heroic pilot of ours who single-handedly plunged into enemy planes. Afterwards, he was wounded, endured until he landed his plane, and then fainted. Fazıl Bey was personally congratulated by the pilots he fought against a few days after the armistice was declared. The Ottoman Empire was among the strong states in terms of aviation. So much so that when the war ended in 1918, it still had a fleet of 93 aircraft.
